The All Star game starters were announced last week on Sunday and lo and behold, someone not named Lebron James was actually the top vote getter. and very deserving at that I might add. The player I am eluding to is Steph Curry, the smooth jump shooter who has handles like Spider Man in those youtube videos (if you know what I'm talking about you should be nodding your head in agreement right now). Curry is very deserving and may just be the MVP of the league when all is said and done. The other very well deserving pair is the Gasol brothers. Pau must have found the fountain of youth somewhere in Chicago and Marc is finally getting recognized for the stud that he is. The list of starters continues with Blake Griffin, Anthony Davis, Lebron James, Kyle Lowry, John Wall, Carmelo Anthony, and Kobe Bryant. Wait wait wait. Kobe?? And Carmelo?? Sorry New Yorkers but Carmelo does not deserve to be starting. Any player with a team that currently has 8 wins should not be starting. Kobe of course will always be Kobe but its about time some other person was voted into the starting lineup. Kobe's time is over. What about a Klay Thompson or a Damian Lilliard? Come on America, it's time to let go. Next year I hope to see the most deserving players start, not the most famous and well known. Still, just like always, the All Star game will be the best pickup game of the year and I will of course be very entertained.

20 losses. 20 losses to a team that many thought would break the Jordan Bulls' regular season record of 72-10. What happened? Growing pains is an answer most people like to say but when the infamous Heatles first came together they were figuring things out by this point in the season. The Cavs have made two trades over the past couple weeks, obtaining J.R. Smith, Iman Shumpert, and Timofey Mosgov while losing Dion Waiters, Lou Amundson, Alex Kirk, and a couple draft picks. These are perhaps the most desperate moves that have been made this season. I don't know if anyone has noticed but the Knicks are doing horrendous this year. J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert were certainly not the the whole problem, but they were definitely a part of it. J.R. Smith is known to be one of the more selfish players players in the leagues and Iman Shumpert isn't much better. They will not solve any of the Cavs' problems but most likely create even more. Secondly, the trade for Timofey Mosgov made more sense, considering that they needed a center ever since Anderson Varejao went down for the season. However, Mosgov gets dunked on left and right. Too many times he is on the wrong end of a poster that would be hanging up in a 12 year old's room. As seen here as Blake Griffin destroys his soul. Although Mosgov can be a decent center at times he is no Anderson Varejeo.
The point being made about these trades is that it's halfway through the season. You haven't figured out how to play together as a team before these trades were made. Why would adding more new faces fix that? Have no fear though Cleveland fans. You still have the best player in the world in Lebron James, an all star power forward who can score from anywhere on the court, and a young point guard who won a gold medal this past summer on the USA team. One day it will all come together. However as of right now, things will most likely get worse. |
